Looking for a playful Halloween treat for the kids? These Witch’s Brew Chocolate Piñatas are a spooky, fun alternative to hot cocoa bombs—made from chocolate spheres filled with candy that kids get to crack open and enjoy.

Kids will love smashing these candy-filled chocolate spheres to reveal gummy worms, candy eyeballs, and other Halloween treats. Below is a clear, step-by-step guide to make Witch’s Brew Chocolate Piñatas at home.
What you’ll need

Gather these supplies before you start:
- Black candy melts
- Silicone chocolate sphere mold
- Edible glitter spray
- Candy eyes and Halloween sprinkles
- Chocolate eyeballs
- Gummy worms and gummy frogs
- Small wooden mallets for cracking
Step-by-step instructions
1. Set aside 1/4 cup of the candy melts for decoration, then melt the rest. Use short bursts in the microwave (about 30 seconds), stirring between intervals until smooth—usually around two minutes total. Use a microwave-safe bowl to avoid overheating your melted candy.
2. Place your silicone mold on a cookie sheet for stability. Spray each cavity lightly with edible glitter spray to add shimmer inside the spheres.
3. Spoon roughly 1 1/2 tablespoons of melted candy into each mold cavity and spread it to coat the sides evenly. Make the edges slightly thicker so the halves won’t crack when you join them later. Avoid pooling candy at the bottom; if it pools, redistribute it so the sphere keeps its rounded shape. Keep the walls thin enough that the piñata will break with the mallet.
4. Chill the mold in the refrigerator for 3–5 minutes to set, then flex the mold gently to release each chocolate half.

5. Warm a small glass plate in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Place one chocolate half, open side down, on the plate for a second or two and twist slightly to melt the rim—this will create a smooth edge to seal the two halves together.
6. Fill that half with small candies like gummy worms, chocolate eyeballs, and gummy frogs.

7. Heat the rim of a second half the same way and press it onto the filled half, twisting slightly to seal. If any gaps remain, dip a spoon in warm water, dry it, and gently smooth the seam to meld the chocolate together; you can also smooth with a warm fingertip. Repeat until you’ve made the desired number of filled spheres.

8. Melt the reserved candy melts (or additional black candy melts) again in 30-second increments. Use a spoon to drizzle melted candy over the sealed spheres for decoration and extra strength.
9. While the drizzle is still wet, spray a bit more edible glitter, then quickly add candy eyes and Halloween sprinkles. Work fast since the drizzle will harden quickly. Allow the finished spheres to set in the fridge for another 3–5 minutes.

10. To serve, place a piñata on a plate or tray and let kids tap it gently with a small wooden mallet until it cracks open and the treats spill out.
Tips and timing
- Prep time: about 20 minutes
- Active cook time: about 5 minutes
- Additional setting time: about 10 minutes
- Total time: roughly 35 minutes for a batch (about 3 spheres)
- If your candy melts seize or seem grainy, try a small amount of a brand formulated for melting to improve consistency.
