Patriotic Red, White & Blue Mason Jar Decor Ideas

These cute Red White and Blue Mason Jars are easy to paint and beautiful as drinking glasses or flower vases!

I love any reason to gather people together—cookouts, birthdays, showers or holidays—and when I can, I like to make every detail special. These red, white and blue mason jars were made for Memorial Day drinks, but I’ll be using them all summer. They make a cheerful addition to any table or party.
Some jars feature chalkboard labels so you can personalize them with guests’ names. You can use regular chalk for temporary labels or chalk paint for a longer-lasting finish. Both options look great and help guests keep track of their drinks.

Patriotic painted mason jars that double as drinkware or vases.
Materials:
  • Mason jars (clean and completely dry)
  • Red acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Chalkboard paint (for labels)
  • 1 craft sponge, cut into three pieces
  • 1 foam brush
  • Chalk (optional, for writing names)
Instructions
  1. Clean mason jars thoroughly and allow them to dry completely.
  2. Using one sponge piece, start at the bottom of the jar and gently blot a ring of blue paint around the lower section. Allow to dry.
  3. With a clean sponge piece, blot a ring of white paint around the middle section of the jar. Allow to dry.
  4. With the last sponge piece, blot a ring of red paint around the upper section beneath the rim. Allow to dry. Important: Do not paint the rim or lip of the jar—avoid painting where lips touch the glass.
  5. For a chalkboard label, use the foam brush to paint an oval or square on the front of the jar with chalkboard paint. Apply two coats for full coverage, letting each coat dry before applying the next. Once dry, write names or messages with chalk.
