An honest Instagram review of the Cheez-It Chicken recipe — thanks for the feedback!
This recipe came from a close friend, Mikel, and has been a go-to for years. It’s one of those dishes I make when I don’t want to waste ingredients and need something everyone will eat. The flavor is surprisingly rich given how simple the ingredients are. Early on, this recipe went viral on TikTok and social media, and it remains a favorite in our house. Give it a try — it’s a keeper.

A nice comment from Instagram 🙂

I frequently use a Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron rectangular roaster for this dish because it promotes even roasting and retains heat for consistent results.

1 hr
Equipment
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- Ziploc bag (for crushing crackers)
Ingredients
- 3 chicken breasts, butterflied (to make six thin pieces)
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cracked black pepper
- 6 oz sour cream
- 3 oz grated Parmesan
- 2 cups Cheez-Its, crushed
- 6 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- Butterfly the chicken breasts so you have six thin pieces. Season both sides with garlic powder, salt, and cracked black pepper.
- Grease a baking dish and arrange the seasoned chicken in the dish. Spoon about 2 heaping tablespoons of sour cream onto each piece (6 oz total) and smooth it to cover the chicken. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan evenly over each piece.
- Place the Cheez-Its in a Ziploc bag and crush them. Pour the melted butter into the bag, toss to coat the crumbs, then spread the buttery Cheez-It crumbs over each chicken piece to fully cover them.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45–50 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the topping is golden and crisp. Enjoy!
